Former DSS DG Yusuf Bichi Gets New Appointment Under Tinubu

Tinubu Blames Political Opponents for Hunger, Poverty at APC Rally in Kaduna

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reportedly blamed his political opponents for the hunger and poverty affecting Nigerians, insisting that his administration is working to address the country's economic challenges.

The president reportedly made the remarks during an All Progressives Congress (APC) political rally in Kaduna State as political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections continue to gather momentum.

According to reports, Tinubu said his political opponents were responsible for creating the hunger and poverty they now accuse his administration of failing to address.

"They created the hunger, they created the poverty, we are trying to eradicate it," the president was quoted as saying.

His remarks have drawn attention amid ongoing public debates about the state of Nigeria's economy and the impact of government policies on ordinary citizens.

Economic Hardship Remains a Major Concern

Since Tinubu assumed office in May 2023, his administration has introduced major economic reforms, including the removal of the petrol subsidy and changes to foreign exchange policies.

The government has defended these measures as necessary steps towards stabilising the economy, attracting investment and improving public finances.

However, many Nigerians continue to express concerns about the rising cost of food, transportation, electricity and other essential goods and services.

For households already struggling to make ends meet, the rising cost of living has remained a major challenge.

Unemployment, insecurity and the economic difficulties facing small businesses have also featured prominently in public discussions about the government's performance.

Tinubu's Remarks Come Ahead of the 2027 Elections

The reported statement comes as political parties and their supporters prepare for the 2027 general elections.

With economic performance expected to remain a major campaign issue, the ruling APC and opposition parties are likely to face increased scrutiny over their policies, promises and records in government.

However, the president's assertion that his political opponents created hunger and poverty remains a political claim and should not be treated as an independently established fact.

Nigerians Await Solutions to Economic Challenges</ p>

For many Nigerians, the central question is not only who is responsible for the country's economic difficulties but also what practical steps will be taken to improve living conditions.

Citizens continue to look towards government policies that can make food more affordable, create employment opportunities, improve security and ease the financial pressure on households.

As the 2027 elections approach, the government's economic record and the opposition's alternative proposals are likely to remain central to political debate.

Whether the administration's reforms will deliver sufficient improvements in living standards before the next election remains an important question for voters.

What do you think about President Tinubu's reported statement blaming political opponents for hunger and poverty in Nigeria? Do you believe the administration is doing enough to address the economic hardship facing Nigerians? Share your thoughts in the comments section.
