Senator Abdul Ningi of Bauchi Central has publicly protested after his police orderly was withdrawn, urging that the same action be applied across all government officials.
The senator said he woke up to find his orderly withdrawn, and while he has no problem with the withdrawal itself, he insisted that the policy must be enforced uniformly, including for:
President Bola Tinubu
Vice President
Ministers
Other lawmakers and government officials
The directive comes as part of President Bola Tinubu’s nationwide plan to pull police officers assigned to VIPs and redeploy them to core security duties to tackle rising insecurity across Nigeria. While many support the policy, some lawmakers and citizens have expressed concern that the implementation has been selective, leaving certain high-profile figures still enjoying full security details.
Senator Ningi emphasized that all officials, regardless of rank, should comply, stressing that perceived favoritism undermines the purpose of the policy.
Promotes fairness and transparency in government security allocation.
Ensures police resources are focused on critical security needs rather than VIP protection.
Highlights lawmakers’ accountability and willingness to call out uneven implementation of government directives.
