ALERT: Possible Christmas Day Attacks in Plateau, Benue, and Kaduna – DSS Responds

 


As the festive season approaches, a serious alert has emerged regarding potential security threats targeting communities in Plateau, Benue, and Kaduna states. A U.S.-based group raised concerns about possible coordinated attacks by armed groups on Christmas Day, December 25, 2025. According to their report, these groups were allegedly gathering near border areas with the intent to strike.

The Department of State Services (DSS) has acknowledged receiving the intelligence. The agency stated that preventive operations and increased security monitoring are already underway to ensure the safety of citizens during the holiday season.

“Security agencies are actively monitoring reports and taking precautionary measures to safeguard communities,” a DSS official said. 

While intelligence alerts are being taken seriously, the Nigerian Presidency has described the report as unverified and doubtful, warning that spreading such information without confirmation can cause unnecessary panic. The government urges citizens to remain calm and rely on official updates from security agencies.

 While there are reports of potential Christmas Day attacks in Plateau, Benue, and Kaduna, these remain unverified by the Nigerian government. The DSS is taking precautions, and citizens should stay alert without panic.
