In response to rising insecurity and a surge in kidnappings across parts of Kwara State, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has issued a strong directive to the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) to expand air surveillance over the innermost forests of the state.
According to official statements, the president ordered a “total security cordon” across forest regions believed to be hideouts for bandits and criminal groups. This directive includes:
24-hour aerial surveillance by Air Force jets and drones
Coordinated ground operations by security forces
Intelligence gathering within communities
Extended operations across Kwara, Niger and Kebbi States
Officials say the move is part of a broader effort to flush out criminal elements and restore stability to affected communities.
Security experts believe this marks one of the most aggressive surveillance orders issued in recent months as the government intensifies the fight against banditry in northern Nigeria.
Residents have been urged to cooperate by reporting suspicious movements and supporting ongoing operations.
