Ex–Anti-Terror Chief Calls for U.S. Military Intervention in Nigeria

Former anti-terror leader Dr. Ahmad Amadi Jr. has stirred major debate after openly supporting a U.S. military intervention in Nigeria to combat terrorism, banditry, and other violent groups threatening national security.

Dr. Amadi argues that Nigeria’s prolonged struggle against insurgents shows the need for stronger international support. He claims that despite the efforts of the military, DSS, and other security agencies, terrorist networks remain deeply rooted across the country.

He also alleged that certain political figures may be covertly backing extremist groups, making it even harder for local forces to defeat them. According to him, foreign intervention—particularly from the United States—could help dismantle terrorist cells more effectively and restore stability.

His statement has sparked mixed reactions nationwide. While some Nigerians believe international help is long overdue, others warn that foreign military involvement could threaten the nation’s sovereignty and escalate tensions.

Whether his call gains traction or not, Dr. Amadi’s comments have reignited urgent conversations about Nigeria’s security crisis, the limits of current military operations, and what solutions are needed to end the violence once and for all.
