Kaduna State has been thrown into heated debate after former Governor Nasir El-Rufai made a shocking allegation: he claimed that the current government is paying ₦1 billion to bandits and even negotiating with criminal groups responsible for repeated attacks.
According to El-Rufai, the administration is not only engaging with the bandits but also “apologizing to them.” His comments immediately triggered national reactions and fueled public suspicion.
However, the Kaduna State Government swiftly fired back, describing the allegations as false, politically motivated, and completely unfounded. Security officials insist that not a single kobo has been paid to any criminal group.
The Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) also dismissed the claim as baseless, stressing that no ransom or monthly allowance is being paid to any armed group.
As the political drama intensifies, Nigerians are demanding transparency, facts, and clarity on the state’s true security strategy.
