Court Convicts Two National Assembly Staff Over ₦4.8 Million Employment Scam

 


The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has secured the conviction of two National Assembly staff members involved in a high-profile employment scam.

Mustapha Mohammed and Tijjani Adam Goni defrauded unsuspecting victims of ₦4.8 million by promising them jobs at prestigious government agencies including the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS). The pair allegedly forged employment letters to lend credibility to their scam.

As part of a plea bargain, the defendants refunded the full ₦4.8 million to their victims and were each fined ₦100,000 by the court. The ICPC highlighted this conviction as part of its ongoing commitment to fight corruption and fraudulent activities within government institutions.

This case serves as a warning that employment scams, even involving government staff, will not go unpunished. Citizens are urged to remain vigilant and verify job offers through official channels.
