Fear gripped residents of Yankamaye village in Tsanyawa Local Government Area, Kano State, after armed bandits launched a deadly late-night attack that left one woman dead and three people abducted.
The incident reportedly occurred around 11:00pm, when the attackers stormed the community, shooting sporadically and forcing residents to flee for safety. According to eyewitness accounts, the woman was killed at close range after pleading with the attackers not to take her son. The gunmen then abducted the son and two other residents.
Local security volunteers were said to have attempted resistance, but the attackers overpowered them due to their superior weapons. The tragic incident has left the community in mourning and heightened fear across nearby villages, especially as similar attacks have been recorded in recent weeks.
Authorities have been alerted, and security agencies are reportedly working to track down the perpetrators and rescue the abducted victims. Residents are calling for urgent government intervention to curb the escalating insecurity across rural parts of Kano State.
