You Can’t Deceive Kogi People Anymore" — Murtala Ajaka Fires Back at Yahaya Bello

Kogi politics is heating up again as Murtala Ajaka, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) leader, has taken a direct swipe at former Governor Yahaya Bello, accusing him of trying to manipulate the people of Kogi ahead of the 2027 elections.

Speaking in a statement released on October 19, 2025, Ajaka boldly declared that “the people of Kogi are now politically conscious and can no longer be deceived by empty promises and intimidation.”

According to Ajaka, Yahaya Bello’s political influence is fading fast, and his alleged attempts to control Kogi politics are “a thing of the past.”

Ajaka went further to describe Bello’s recent political moves as “a charade,” stressing that the former governor no longer has the power to determine Kogi’s political future.

“It’s laughable that someone who couldn’t even deliver his senatorial district during the last election now claims he can deliver Kogi in 2027. Our people are wiser now — we will vote for progress, not intimidation,” Ajaka said.

He urged the people of Kogi to stand firm and resist political deception, adding that the SDP remains committed to transparency, good governance, and people-focused leadership.

As 2027 approaches, the battle for political dominance in Kogi is intensifying. Ajaka’s statement adds more fuel to the already heated atmosphere, with many political watchers seeing it as a direct challenge to Bello’s lingering influence.

Observers believe this could mark the beginning of a major political realignment in the state, as parties prepare for a fierce contest in the coming general elections.
