Troops Foil Bandit Attack in Ibi, Taraba State — Recover Weapons and Motorcycles

In a decisive military operation, Nigerian Army troops of the 6 Brigade (Sector 3, Operation Whirl Stroke) have successfully foiled a bandit attack in Ibi Local Government Area of Taraba State.

The operation, which took place on October 10, 2025, resulted in the recovery of five dane guns and several motorcycles, dealing a heavy blow to criminal elements terrorizing the region.

According to official reports, the troops acted on credible intelligence about the movement of armed bandits attempting to infiltrate the Ibi axis. Their swift response led to an intense exchange of gunfire, forcing the assailants to abandon their weapons and flee the scene.

⚔️ The operation is part of ongoing nationwide security efforts under Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) — a joint task force aimed at neutralizing bandits, kidnappers, and other armed groups across the North-Central and North-East regions of Nigeria.

Military sources confirmed that the troops are maintaining a heightened presence in the area to prevent further attacks and ensure lasting peace.

In a statement, the 6 Brigade Headquarters commended the courage and professionalism of the troops involved, emphasizing the Army’s commitment to protecting communities and restoring peace across Taraba and neighboring states.

The statement also urged citizens to continue supporting security agencies by providing timely and credible information that could help foil future threats.

🌍 This successful operation comes amid a renewed push by the Nigerian military to dismantle criminal networks operating in Taraba, Benue, and Nasarawa states.

The consistent recovery of arms and motorcycles indicates that security forces are tightening their grip on rural infiltration routes used by bandits.

Residents of Ibi have expressed relief and appreciation for the troops’ vigilance and bravery, calling for sustained military presence in the area.

✍️ The foiled attack in Ibi serves as a reminder that Nigeria’s fight against insecurity is yielding results. With continued collaboration between citizens and the military, communities across Taraba and beyond can look forward to a more secure future.
