💔 TRAGIC UPDATE: FCT Police Arrest 12 Suspects Over ARISE News Anchor Sommie Maduagwu’s Death in Abuja Robbery

 


The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has confirmed the arrest of 12 suspects linked to the tragic death of ARISE News anchor, Sommie Maduagwu, and a security guard during a robbery attack in Abuja.

The shocking incident occurred at Unique Apartments, Gishiri Village, Katampe District, leaving residents and colleagues in deep mourning.

🚨 According to police reports, the robbery attack that claimed the lives of Sommie Maduagwu and a security guard happened late at night when armed men invaded the apartment complex.

The police, acting on credible intelligence, launched an intensive investigation using digital tracking and forensic data, leading to the arrest of 12 suspects believed to be connected to the crime.

🗣️ The FCT Police Public Relations Officer confirmed that the suspects were arrested after a coordinated operation across multiple locations in Abuja.

 “We have 12 suspects in custody in connection with the robbery and murder of ARISE News anchor, Sommie Maduagwu. Investigation is ongoing, and justice will be served,”

the police spokesperson stated.

The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.

The death of Sommie Maduagwu has thrown Nigeria’s media community into grief. Colleagues at ARISE News described her as a brilliant journalist, passionate storyteller, and true professional.

Many Nigerians have taken to social media to demand justice, calling on security agencies to ensure that those behind the brutal attack are punished.

 “Sommie was one of the brightest. Her killers must not go free,”

wrote one user on X (formerly Twitter).

The FCT Police have assured the public that investigations are still ongoing and more arrests could follow as they piece together the evidence.

Authorities also urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement to curb rising crime in the city.
