President Tinubu Approves $1 Billion Reconstruction of Nigeria’s Major Seaports


 In a major move to modernize Nigeria’s maritime infrastructure, President Bola Tinubu has officially approved a $1 billion reconstruction project targeting the nation’s key seaports: Apapa, Tin Can Island, Calabar, Warri, and Port Harcourt.

The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) confirmed that the initiative aims to enhance port operations, attract foreign investment, and position Nigeria as a competitive player in the global logistics chain. This large-scale reconstruction project reflects the federal government’s commitment to revitalizing the maritime sector and boosting economic growth.

The project is scheduled to commence in the first quarter of 2026, following detailed engineering, environmental, and design studies. Officials project the reconstruction to be completed within 48 months, modernizing port infrastructure and improving efficiency for trade and commerce.
