Nigeria’s Solar Dream Takes Flight — Locally Made Panels Now Powering Ghana in a Clean Energy Breakthrough
Nigeria has hit a major milestone in its clean energy journey — for the first time ever, locally produced solar panels are being exported to Ghana.
The historic export, achieved by Levene Photovoltaic Technologies, signals a powerful shift from dependence on imported panels to homegrown solar innovation. It positions Nigeria as a rising player in Africa’s renewable energy market.
According to reports, Nigeria’s solar manufacturing capacity has surged from about 120 megawatts to 650 megawatts, thanks to government backing and strong private sector investment. The Rural Electrification Agency (REA) has also supported this growth through policies encouraging local production and technology transfer.
Experts say the development will not only create jobs and reduce import costs but also make solar power more affordable and accessible for millions of Nigerians. By exporting to Ghana, Nigeria is now proving its ability to lead the region in clean technology — a step toward becoming West Africa’s renewable energy hub.
While the achievement is impressive, analysts urge continued investment in quality control, infrastructure, and policy consistency to keep the momentum alive.
Nigeria’s solar ambitions have officially taken flight — and the world is watching. ☀️
