As Nigeria celebrates its 65th Independence Anniversary, former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai has urged leaders to embrace reforms that can transform the country’s future. He called for true federalism, giving states more control over education, healthcare, infrastructure, and taxation to drive competition and accountability.
El-Rufai also stressed the importance of credible elections, backing reforms like electronic voting and real-time transmission of results to restore public trust.
Beyond politics, he highlighted Nigeria’s challenges of poverty, unemployment, and inflation, urging the nation’s elite to build consensus and agree on a clear direction for the next 65 years. According to him, only through problem-solving governance can Nigeria unlock stability, growth, and prosperity for its people.
