Lagos Government Shuts Down Nordic Hotel Over Environmental Violations — Cites Public Health Risks



The Lagos State Government has sealed the popular Nordic Hotel located in Victoria Island over serious environmental violations, citing threats to public health and safety.

According to reports from the Lagos State Wastewater Management Office (LSWMO), the closure was prompted by the hotel’s illegal discharge of untreated wastewater into public drains — a clear breach of environmental safety regulations.

Officials explained that the action is part of an ongoing statewide crackdown on environmental offenders, aimed at promoting a cleaner, safer, and more sustainable Lagos.

Authorities emphasized that no individual or business is exempt from environmental compliance, noting that such practices endanger both residents and the ecosystem.
