The Chidinma Ojukwu Case: Beauty, Controversy, and the Long Wait for Justice

House of Reps Moves to Create Ibadan State, Split Oyo Into Two! 🇳🇬

In a dramatic development that has set social media abuzz, the House of Representatives has advanced a bill seeking to create a new Ibadan State from the current Oyo State — effectively splitting the state into two parts. 😲

The proposal, sponsored by Hon. Abass Adigun (representing Ibadan North East / Ibadan South East Federal Constituency), successfully passed its second reading on the floor of the House earlier this week.

If approved, the bill would officially create Ibadan State with Ibadan city as its capital, while the remaining areas of the present Oyo State would be renamed “New Oyo State”, retaining Oyo state as its capital

According to Hon. Adigun, the move aims to bring development, better governance, and fairness to Ibadan and surrounding areas — which he described as “too large and politically marginalized” under the current Oyo structure.

He also emphasized that Ibadan, as one of Nigeria’s oldest and most populous cities, deserves its own state status, given its size, historical significance, and economic potential.

Before anyone starts celebrating or panicking — let’s be clear

The creation of Ibadan State is not yet law.

Here’s what still needs to happen:

The bill must pass third reading in the House of Representatives.

It must also be approved by the Senate.

The State Houses of Assembly within the affected areas (Oyo) must agree.

A referendum must be held among the people living in those areas.

Finally, the President of Nigeria must give his assent.

Only after these steps can Ibadan officially become a new state.

💬 The news sparked hot debates online — with some Ibadan residents celebrating the move as long overdue, while others warned it could cause division or political tension in Oyo State.

One user wrote on X (Twitter):

“Ibadan deserves its own state abeg — too big to be under Oyo forever.”

Another replied:

“Nigeria doesn’t need more states. We need good governance, not more politicians!”

The bill for the creation of Ibadan State is still in progress, not yet approved.

If passed, Oyo State will be divided into:

Ibadan State (with Ibadan as capital)

New Oyo State (with Oyo as capital)

Until then, it’s just a proposal — but one that could reshape Nigeria’s political map if successful.

👀 Goodbye Reading Glasses? Eye Drops That Restore Near Vision in Just 1 Hour

A medical breakthrough may soon change how millions see the world. At the 2025 ESCRS Congress, scientists unveiled eye drops that could replace reading glasses and even surgery. 766 patients with presbyopia (age-related near vision loss) tested the drops. *Pilocarpine sharpened near focus. *Diclofenac reduced irritation. Most could read 2–3 extra lines just 1 hour after use. Vision improvements lasted up to 2 years with continued use. 80% maintained near vision after 1 year. Side effects were mild and temporary. 🌍 Why It Matters With 1.8 billion people worldwide affected by presbyopia, these drops could offer a non-invasive, affordable alternative to glasses or surgery. ⚠️ More large-scale trials are still needed, but this discovery could mark the beginning of a new era in eye care. 👉 If these drops were available today, would you try them? #VisionHealth #EyeCare #Presbyopia #MedicalInnovation #ScienceNews #HealthyAging #EyeDrops #DailyGist&Guide
