The Enugu State Government, led by Governor Peter Mbah, has taken a significant step towards supporting a young victim of alleged ritualism. Ukamaka Okonkwo, a 13-year-old girl rescued from a ritualist's den in Ndiagu Umumba, Ezeagu Council Area, has been offered a scholarship to pursue her education from her current class to university level.
The state government has also provided Ukamaka with therapy and rehabilitation at a government facility to help her overcome the trauma she experienced. According to Mrs. Ngozi Enih, Commissioner for Children, Gender Affairs, and Social Development, "The government wants to ensure that she bounces back fully in the shortest possible time." This comprehensive support package demonstrates the government's commitment to protecting and supporting vulnerable children in the state.
The Enugu State Government has reiterated its commitment to tackling crime in the state, with zero tolerance for perpetrators. The government has already demolished the property linked to the alleged ritualist activities and is working with security agencies to track down and bring those responsible to justice. Mrs. Enih emphasized that the government will ensure that perpetrators face the full wrath of the law.
