🔥 Federal Government Closes Case in Nnamdi Kanu’s Terrorism Trial — Defence Moves to File No-Case Submission
The long-running terrorism case involving the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has taken another major turn. The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially closed its case after presenting five witnesses before the Federal High Court in Abuja.
According to credible reports from Channels TV and Vanguard, the prosecution announced that it had finished presenting all its evidence against the separatist leader, marking the end of its side of the trial.
Following the government’s move, Kanu’s defence team revealed plans to file a “no-case submission,” arguing that the evidence presented by the prosecution is insufficient to warrant the continuation of the trial.
However, the court later rejected the no-case submission, ruling that the prosecution had indeed established a prima facie case. As a result, Kanu has been ordered to enter his defence in the next stage of proceedings.
The case is expected to continue in the coming weeks, with Kanu’s legal team preparing to present its arguments. This development comes amid ongoing calls from several groups urging the Federal Government to adopt a political solution to end the prolonged detention of the IPOB leader.
Observers say the outcome of this stage could shape the broader debate over justice, security, and national unity in Nigeria.
