A staff member of FCMB Microfinance Bank, Ayomide Lamidi, has been arraigned before the Ogudu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly stealing ₦11.6 million belonging to the bank.
Lamidi, aged 29, reportedly diverted customer deposits and loan repayments between January and July 2025, while serving as a loan officer at the bank’s Ikorodu Road, Ketu branch.
During the court session, the prosecution accused him of failing to remit funds collected from customers into the official bank account. The presiding magistrate granted Lamidi bail of ₦700,000, with two sureties in like sum.
The case was adjourned to October 7, 2025, for further hearing. As of the latest update, no final sentence or conviction has been announced — the matter remains under judicial review.
This incident has stirred discussions on employee accountability and internal security measures in Nigerian financial institutions.
