Every Man Should Marry More Than One Wife” — Ned Nwoko Sparks Debate Across Nigeria

Billionaire businessman and politician Prince Ned Nwoko has once again found himself at the center of controversy after declaring that “every man should marry more than one wife.”

In a recent interview that went viral, the Delta-born lawmaker and husband of Nollywood star Regina Daniels said men with only one wife “deserve pity.” According to him, polygamy brings balance, responsibility, and social stability.

“Yes, every man should do that. Just imagine telling you to stand on one foot… but to stand on two, three, or four is much more balanced,”
Ned Nwoko said.

Nwoko argued that polygamy has economic and social benefits. He believes if more wealthy and responsible men married multiple wives, it would reduce prostitution and empower more women economically.

He added that polygamy is deeply rooted in African tradition and should not be viewed as outdated, saying it helps preserve cultural values and strengthens family bonds.

As expected, Nigerians flooded social media with diverse opinions.

Some agreed with Ned Nwoko, calling him “a proud African man upholding tradition.”

Others criticized him, saying monogamy is more realistic in today’s world, both morally and financially.

Religious leaders and marriage counselors have also weighed in, pointing out that marriage choices are personal, and cultural or religious backgrounds play a big role in such decisions.

Let’s Hear From You! 💬

Do you agree with Ned Nwoko that “every man should marry more than one wife”?
Or do you think monogamy is still the best path in modern Nigeria?
