The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested Abdulazeez Gbadebo, station manager of Emadeb Energy Service Limited in Kaduna, for allegedly diverting N500 million belonging to his employer. The arrest followed a petition filed by the company after an external audit uncovered suspicious transactions.
According to EFCC investigations, Gbadebo manipulated fuel pump meters to sell bulk petrol and diesel, diverting payments into his personal bank accounts instead of remitting them to the company. The anti-graft agency disclosed that proceeds worth hundreds of millions were traced directly to him.
During the operation, EFCC recovered several luxury assets linked to Gbadebo. These include an ash-colored Mercedes Benz, three Mini Cooper cars in ash and green, and a white Mercedes Benz GLK. Properties traced to him include a fully detached three-bedroom bungalow and three landed properties. Investigators also recovered key documents such as an authorization letter from Kaduna Geographical Information System (KADGIS) and a certificate of occupancy.
EFCC confirmed that Gbadebo will be charged to court once investigations are completed. The agency reiterated its commitment to fighting financial crimes and urged companies to strengthen their internal audit systems to prevent insider fraud.
