APC Disqualifies Kayode Ojo From Ekiti Governorship Primary — Cites Non-Compliance With Party Constitution
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has disqualified Engr. Kayode Ojo from participating in the upcoming Ekiti State governorship primary, citing non-compliance with the party’s constitution and screening guidelines.
According to the APC’s National Working Committee (NWC), Ojo and another aspirant, Olawunmi, were found to have violated certain party provisions, leading to their disqualification. The decision followed a detailed review of the screening panel’s report, which recommended that only Governor Biodun Oyebanji and Mrs. Atinuke Oluremi Omolayo be cleared to contest the primary.
The announcement was made by the APC Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Duro Meseko, who emphasized that the party’s decision was based on strict adherence to internal rules and the Electoral Act.
Political observers note that Ojo’s exclusion could significantly reshape the Ekiti political landscape, as he was considered one of the key challengers in the race. Some supporters have described the decision as politically motivated, while others see it as a necessary step to uphold party discipline.
The APC leadership, however, insists that the move reinforces its commitment to transparency, fairness, and due process in all internal elections.
As the party prepares for its governorship primary, all eyes remain on Ojo’s next move, with reports suggesting he may appeal the decision in the coming days.
