Tragedy in Kano: Grandparents Killed Over Food
Residents of Kofar Dawanau Quarters in Kano metropolis are still in shock after a 30-year-old man, Mutawakilu Ibrahim, allegedly stabbed his grandparents to death during a family dispute over food on Thursday, September 25, 2025.
The victims, Muhammad Dansokoto (75) and Hadiza Tasidi (65), sustained multiple knife wounds. They were rushed to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital, but doctors confirmed their deaths.
Eyewitnesses say the argument between the suspect and his grandparents escalated quickly before he allegedly attacked them with a knife.
Police reports suggest that the suspect may have been under the influence of intoxicants at the time of the crime
Spokesperson for the Kano State Police Command confirmed the arrest of the suspect. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Homicide Section, for further investigation.
